We are a small, but active, Devon Rex cattery in the Dallas, TX metro area. Our breeding program places health, temperament, and socialization above all else.
Health - we test breeding cats for FeLV/FIV and HCM yearly. We also genetically test for PKD, hypokalemia and spasticity. We have as good of a health guarantee on our kittens as you will find anywhere. We send in DNA swabs on all cats, including kittens. The DNA is banked so if another test comes available, we will be able to test them all. We do not place kittens until they are 16 weeks of age to make sure they receive all vaccinations and are altered.
Temperament /Socialization - Outside of health, this is our primary focus. Devon Rex cats are extremely intelligent and active social creatures. We condition ours from birth to know the touch and love of human hands every day of their lives. Our cats rule the house! We do not use cages - ever. From the moment the kittens are born, we shower them with love and attention. We are lucky that at least one of us works at home most week days so all of our Devons are accustomed to constant attention. We set aside at least 1 hour each day for dedicated play time where the entire crew is involved in games and chase. Life is never boring with a Devon!
Appearance - We also breed cats that accurately conform to the breed standard... Not as the extremist interpret the breed standard, but as the breed standard actually reads. Devon Rexes are "Rex" cats. The "Rex" indicates a specialized, mutated coat. A Devon Rex without a coat is not a Devon Rex in our opinion... they are only a Devon. We are registered with TICA and CFA and are very active and successful in showing our cats in both organizations.
Special Note - We cannot express how grateful we are to our friend and mentor, Dr. Shally Carlson (Kotickee Cattery), for the opportunity to be part of the Devon world. Shally is a tremendous and precious asset to the Devon Rex community and we appreciate all the advice and friendship she has given to us.
